Instead, due to endless rain making much outdoor activity impossible, I turned to television, and a passing interest in The Big Bang Theory became much, much more. I have become an avid viewer, an addict even. Have you ever seen it?
We've been busy in the kitchen too. Our eBay units have been transformed from this
To this. They were rubbed down and we painted them in Moonstone Grey by Craig & Rose.
They look really blue in these pictures, they're actually more of a grey-green colour.
The dresser we got with the base unit was cut in half to make the units at each end of the cooker. The colour of the kitchen units is the same as the extractor cover that we made which you can see at the top. Funny how the light works in this room!
Now I'm back online, I'm looking forward to catching up with the blogs I follow, but I'm sure my Big Bang addiction will remain!

Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteThe cupboards look great...so different!

Hi Lyn - we really enjoyed painting them, and it wasn't as daunting as I'd imagined.

Wondering where you were and figuring that with all the rain there in the UK that perhaps you all had floated away.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the Big Bang Theory the first couple of seasons, but find it kind of meh today. Actually as our political season has heated up and North Carolina is a swing state this year (we could go either way at this point), the TV gets turned off after the national news is over at 7 pm and not turned on again until the morning news. The political ads are so over the top, I want to scream.
Hi Karen
DeleteWe might well float away at this rate!
Are the elections for individual states at this stage? Is that for senators? I don't really know much about the US political system.
You asked previously about the horse we have in our side extension. There is no real story behind it, I was it in a local store years ago, which often has unusual items, I loved it because it's a bit different.

Dan: Sorry, I'm behind the curve in replying.
DeleteThe political ads right now are for Obama and Romney and are aimed at the undecided voters (which I am not. I will be voting for Obama again). Our state doesn't vote for the Senate this year (our Senators serve a six year term and the next time one will be up for reelection will be in 2014). Our House representatives are all up for reelection as their terms are just two years. Each state has two Senators for 100 in the Senate and then there are 435 Representatives total which are apportioned by the population of the state they represent. So some states with very small populations like North Dakota only have one Representative and North Carolina which is 12th in population has 13.
Our whole political system is just out of control. We need something like the UK where you can only campaign for (I think) six weeks instead of the entire year.
I love the Big Bang show. But I always forget when it is on, so I seem to watch it more on re-runs.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how the work on your home was coming along and walaa here is a post.
Everything looks wonderful.
cheers, parsnip
Hi Parsnip
DeleteOurs are a mixture of seasons. I really enjoyed Friends when it first came out, and it kind of reminds me of that, but with a scientific background! I love the characters in it.

We rely on the internet a lot don't we, I'd be lost without it. I love the kitchen, I think the grey green is similar to the units we've just put in, it's ever such a peaceful colour. I'm still hunting for the right curtains to go with it though!
ReplyDeleteHi Jay
DeleteWe have put in some roman blinds which don't particularly match at all. Hopefully when everything is in, it'll just blend together.
You're right, it's a really peaceful colour.

I love the e-bay cabinetry, their new color is just right! It's ALL looking great!
ReplyDeleteWe watch Big Bang theory once in a while ~ those funny quirky too smart for their own good people!
Hi Mel
DeleteWe just hoped that it would look OK. I really wouldn't have fancied paint stripping if the colour hadn't worked. Hope all's well with you.

Glad you're back with us again Dan :o)
ReplyDeleteLove the cabinets, they're a gorgeous colour.
We've just had BT 'infinity' upgrade and frankly I'm not too impressed, but at least we didn't loose our connection.
Have a great week :o)

P.S.
Thank you for your lovely comments.
Hi Rose
DeleteThey cut the connection here and then couldn't connect at the other end as the telegraph pole had been condemned for health and safety reasons. It took them ages to arrange for another engineer to attend with a scissor lift. It's such a huge company that one department doesn't seem to talk to another.
Not sure what Infinity is - I'll have to look it up.
Hope you and your prickly friends are all well, I'll pop over and catch up with your finds soon!

Fabulous! you are a very creative couple.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back posting Dan. Love your cabinets and the colour is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite frightening how big a part technology plays in our modern lives. If my internet is down I cannot work. Full stop!
Hope your BT tribulations are over.

Typical BT eh! Our 'Infinity' was certainly finite yesterday, it didn't work at all, I was going to ring and give them a rocket this morning and surprise, surprise it works perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comments Dan, you're very sweet :o) I'd have emailed you this reply but your comments are on 'no reply' so I hope you didn't mind me leaving this on here?
Hope you have a brilliant week.
